The Tugboat Ultra Carve setup packs a ton of turn into a small package. Reverse king pin trucks are most commonly found on longboards, they lean deep and turn tight. This setup, with Bear Gen6 130mm trucks,  is designed to give you longboard style carving in a compact package. Ideal for flat areas or mellow hills, perfectly suited to neighborhood and path cruising. The Tug Boat Ultra Carve provides a similar experience to a surf skate or surf cruiser with less tip over. The most maneuverable setup in our stable, turning has never been so much fun.

Kicktail

Take your skating into the third dimension with a kicktail. We design our kicktails to work perfectly with each deck shape as well as with the truck and wheel setup on each complete.

LOW CAVE

Mellow concave that barely feels like it’s there, but designed to give you the control you need, when you need it.

SANDED WHEEL WELLS

Wheel wells reduce the risk of wheel-bite by increasing the gap between wheels and deck. Sanded or CNC’d wheel wells both allow for larger wheels or looser trucks, if desired.

A wider and slightly longer version of the Dinghy, the Tugboat comes in at 30" long and 9" wide for a super solid, stable feeling ride. The wider platform is ideal for riders with larger feet who are looking for a comfortable cruiser board experience. The extra meat also inspires confidence and gives you more platform to land on when doing tricks on larger obstacles. The Tugboat is pressed with 7 plies of Canadian maple for a light, stiff and poppy ride. This version features one of our new UV activated graphics that change colour when exposed to sunlight. It comes set up with Gen 6 130mm trucks for the ultimate carvy riding experience. 63mm 78a Fatty Hawgs wheels finish off the setup and ensure you'll have a smooth ride with plenty of roll speed and grip without having to worry about wheelbite.

Tugboat - UV Bengal

Flex Rating

Flex has a big impact on the overall feel of your board and is influenced by a bunch of different factors. The main ones being thickness of the deck, it's wheelbase and rider weight. To put the equation in laymans terms: more flex occurs when you decrease thickness of the deck, increase the wheelbase and increase rider weight. The more flex in your board the more carvy and agile it'll feel, less flex means it's more stable and suited for faster skating. We test every complete with a device we built in house, specifically to standardize flex ratings.

No going back

The Tugboat UV Bengal Ultra Carve exceeded my expectations for just how surfy and nimble a cruiser can be. This maneuverability feels primarily due to the laudable design of the lightweight and narrow 50° RKP trucks, in conjunction with a 14.5” wheelbase. In fairness though, the whole setup seems well executed, with each chosen component contributing to make for a delightful riding experience. From my first ride, flowing, carving, and garnished with a few tech slides, I was hooked, and knew there was no going back voluntarily to something less agile. This total package has informed the degree of control and performance I now know is possible, and will hereafter expect in a cruiser. I suppose, if pushed to be critical, aesthetically the UV color change paint job does nothing for me, preferring instead the subtle beauty of clear maple; but that aside, good job on a fine ride.
