With a board as wild as this, we thought it deserved a wild graphic as well. The art seen here originated in the mind of Alejandro Sordi who really knocked it out of the park. The graphic isn’t the only trick this board has up its sleeve though, it also has an extremely unique shape, tons of rocker and a super low drop-through design for the ultimate longboard experience. The Drop Cat 33 is perfect for smaller riders or anyone looking for a more agile ride. Take a journey on the Drop Cat 33.

This compact, directional drop-through longboard comes in at 33" long by 9.625" wide. 7 ply construction in a board this small results in a tiny amount of dampening flex which works to smooth out your ride on any rougher roads while still being stiff enough to handle some speed and sliding. This board also has a healthy dose of rocker and aggressive, flared concave to keep your feet comfortable and locked in place while freeriding. You will notice the flares starting to rise as your foot nears the four corners of the standing platform, which gives you great reference points, so you know exactly where your feet are without looking down. The short wheelbase provides a small turning circle which, combined with the rocker, gives an incredibly responsive feel which is ideal for low speed and powerful carves. The Drop Cat comes equipped with our flagship 50-degree 180mm grizzly Gen 6 trucks ideal for deep carves and confident cruising as well as some big 72mm 78a Plow King wheels for a smooth, fast and super grippy ride.

Flex Rating

So, what’s flex and why is it important to a skateboard? In skate-nerd terms, flex is the amount of displacement a deck sees when a specific amount of force is applied to it. Check out our formula to the left! There are a few factors that affect flex, like deck thickness, wheelbase, and the amount of force on a deck. We built a machine and put our entire lineup to the test by applying the exact same amount of force to all our boards and measured the displacement we saw in each. This gives a totally scientific and accurate flex range across our entire line! It’s important to understand flex when choosing a board. Here are some basics: Downhill/freeride skateboards will have less flex because you need a stiff platform to stand on when you’re bombing or gripping a corner at speed. Carving skateboards will have more flex, giving you the ability to sink into your turns and pump or carve with ease. Most cruisers, dance and ATV boards will have less flex for control when doing tricks but just enough to be forgiving when pushing around town. We’ve engineered our boards with the best flex for each style of riding but remember, flex is subjective so get out a see what you like the most!

First board ever - Drop Cat 38

I was looking for something to help shorten some commutes to work and visiting friends across the city, and got some advice from a skateboarding subreddit. This was one of the recommendations for a total beginner for the distances I wanted to travel which were in the 5-10 km range, and I'm very pleased with it.

The main points for the subreddit recommendation were that the longer Drop Cat board provides stability, is wider with a concave curve/rocker & flex so is more comfortable to ride, has larger wheels which helps with the of the speed board (i.e. more distance with less pushing), and the design puts the board closer to the ground so will help a beginner to learn pushing the board. I found all of these to be true with the Drop Cat 38 - it was very beginner friendly, and I was able to get the basic hang of it within the first couple hours, enough to the point where I comfortable went for a 2 km trip on a lakeside boardwalk in my city for my third time on the board.

Further, I'm quite happy with the build & functional quality (coming from a mechanical engineer's perspective). The bearings in particular have a similar feel to the ones I've used for industrial machinery, and the assembly fit-up for all the parts look well done.

Personally, I liked the Vibes artwork a bit more when browsing online as the art looked very relaxed and calm. However, it was sold out online when I bought my board, but the art for the Seeker Black that I went with has really grown on me as I find…
