Explore the world,
or your neighborhood,
on a skateboard.

Pack your bags, grab your board and hit the road, Skate and Explore came from weekend road trips with friends. We’d load up the van and go on an adventure, exploring little towns across B.C Canada, camping or crashing in cheap motels. We always brought skateboards on these trips. A skateboard turned stopping for gas into a quick game of skate or a spontaneous session on a little three stair. We’d plan our road trip routes by looking for big rural mountain roads to bomb and make sure we didn’t miss the gnarliest alpine passes. You could feel the excitement in the van as we pulled over and started grabbing our downhill gear, taking turns shuttle driving so everyone gets at least one bomb. A skateboard made 12 hours in a van feel like an adventure. We were out on the road as much as possible.

Skate and Explore evolved over the years. We started traveling by plane to explore other parts of the world, visiting local skate scenes, crews and shops. Our team took the Skate and Explore ethos all over the globe. They touched down in Australia, South Africa, Eastern Europe, Taiwan, Korea, China, the Southern States and Eastern Canada...to name a few. When you travel with a skateboard you meet other people who share your passion and you instantly have something in common, no matter what culture or language you speak. The global skate community welcomes you with open arms. They show you their spots, take you to their house parties and bring you to the best local food spots. Our team arrives home from these trips with crazy stories and new friendships that know no borders.

There’s a certain connection you get to your surroundings when you have a skateboard under your feet, you look at your city in a different way. You don’t have to plan a weekend road trip or get on a plane to Skate and Explore. The amazing thing about skateboarding is you can simply grab your board and leave your front door, exploring your own neighborhood. You’ll discover things about your own neighborhood and find cool spots to come back to. You may even meet other skaters out exploring their neighborhoods, many of our friendships have been formed over a common love of skateboarding.

We’ve documented these trips and are proud to share our Skate and Explore adventures with you! Below you’ll find our favorite trips and we’d encourage you to watch them and hope they inspire you to bring a skateboard on your next adventure.

eastern europe

EASTERN EUROPE - 2016

Eastern Europe isn't always the first place on someone's travel itinerary. Major conflict in the 90s during the Yugoslav Wars gave the Balkans a rough reputation. Abandoned ruins from the war have opened up interesting places to skate, like the 1984 Sarajevo Olympic Bobsled track. But when you look past the war torn buildings you'll see beautiful landscapes, optimistic people, and a region that has bounced back from a dark past. Next door is Romania! Not long ago it was locked off from the rest of Europe. Throw in a revolution at the end of the 80's and you'll find a country with rich culture and people full of pride for their home. Large mountains ranges with some of the most amazing roads ever paved, it's no wonder that the scene in Romania is blowing up!
